ILLUYANKAS, a huge Turkish dragon from Hittite mythology, lay from Aleppo to Kayseri, a mountain range of a monster.
Storm-god, Taru, god of wind & weather took lightening and thunder bolts to fight Illuyankas. He was aided with help from the goddess Inaras and her human lover Hupasiyas.
Taru drenched the dragon's green scales with rain, but it evaporated in clouds of steam. He pelted Illuyankas with blizzards of snow which created immense melt waters. Taru tried to scorch the dragon with sun, but his hide reflected blinding light
The dragon continued to graze on the people and villages of earth. He let out beacon of fire, summoning the many offspring of Illuyankas from craters and volcanoes... it was a party of destruction.
The dragons arrived en mass at the palace of goddess Inaras who welcomed the dragons. They gorged on delicacies until they became bloated and sleepy. They were too fat to get into their lairs... Inara whistled her own beacon to people of earth who came with rope to bind the dragons leaving them vulnerable to the weather... naked and sunburned.
