Intermediate (7 & 8) Level Activity #2
Consider the school. Have students identify areas of potential
waste i.e. heat, school supplies, unused books, time etc. Divide
the class into small groups and have each group research one of
these areas of waste using a variety of techniques such as observation,
checklists, frequency charts, interviews etc. Have each group
report to the whole group on their findings. Each report should
consider the following:

frequency of the waste - cause(s) of the waste
what could be done to conserve the resource
The
results of this research could be presented to the entire school
in a variety of ways: posters, town hall meeting, part of daily
announcements or formal presentation.
